Pg. 63 (Newspaper reprint) "Perry County Republican," Aug. 25, 1927: "Mrs. Esther Brown, wife of Victor Brown of St.Louis and foster daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Hemmann of Farrar, recently saw her parents, from whom she had been separated 23 years and who did not know where she was. Mrs. Brown was born in June, 1904, at St. Louis, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Davis. Soon after her birth the parents separated, the mother being given custody of the child. Unable to support the child, the mother left her in the Bethesda Orphan Home in St. Louis, from which orphanage she was adopted in 1905, when she was 14 months old, by Mr. and Mrs. Hemmann. After Mr. Davis located his daughter he brought the mother and a son, 2 years the girl's senior, to see Esther."
