Note

E-mail Source: Fiehler Genealogy, Rudolph Fiehler, July, 1979: Alfred Fuehler changed the spelling of the family name. He was pastor for many year in Hoyleton, Illinois and reputed a great scholar.

Source: Elmer and Erna Bock, Uniontown, Missouri: August and Paulina nee Fiehler Hemmann raised Alfred as a foster child (not adopted) after his parents died and he came to Missouri. They put him through seminary and he became a Missouri Synodpastor. Uncle Elmer explained that Alfred was from the "Deutsche Fuehlers" i.e. the Fuehlers from Germany rather than the Fiehlers from Perry County.

Source: 29 July 2000 e-mail from LaVerne Boehmke, St. Louis, Missouri: "Pauline nee Fuehler and August Hemmann raised Rev. Alfred Fuehler, who was sent to them at a young age when his parents in Germany died. He married Sara Natalie Telle. Iremember Alfred Fuehler very well. He was on some sort of a board at Concordia Seminary, and whenever he came for a meeting he would stop in at 54 (Arundel Place) to say hello.

Sourec: 3 Oct 2000 e-mail from LaVerne Boehmke, St. Louis, Missouri: "...Alfred Fuehler came from Greiz, which was then (1882) the capital in the Principality of Reuss-Greiz, one of those little independent areas."

Source: Pastor Alfred Fuehler Obituary, March, 1957: The Rev. Alfred Fuehler was born on 11 Feb 1874, at Greiz, Saxony, Germany, the son of Julius Fuehler and Marie (Wagner) Fuehler. Alfred Fuehler emigratged at the age of eight years (1882)to Uniontown, Missouri, where an uncle, August Hemmann, raised him. His pretheological schooling he received at St. Paul's College, Concordia, Missouri and Concordia College, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
