Source: 1850 and 1860 US Census for Brazeau Township, Perry County, MO.
Source: Fiehler Genealogy, Rudolph Fiehler, July, 1979: Benjamin Fiehler, son of Johann Gottlob Fiehler of Frohna, was a successful farmer and also did blacksmithing. He built his home on the upland part of his father's farm.
Source: 16 Sep 2000 phone call to Robert Fiehler in Altenburg: Bob's grandfather had a larger farm. It was located 1-2 miles north of Frohna. Bob's father, Joseph, was born and raised there. He worked as a carpenter since the farmstead was already divided up and taken over by his two brothers, John and Benjamin. He was a carpenter in Oklahoma, New Mexico, western Nebraska and then an auto mechanic in Ames, Iowa. He enlisted in the Navy in WWI. After the war he came back to Altenburg and was an auto mechanic in Altenburg. He opened his own garage, the Altenburg Garage, which his son, Robert, operated, and now his grandson, Gerard, operates.

Source: 8/11/2001 e-mail message from Delores Darnstaedt in response to my 8/7/2001 e-mail account of my recent visit with Robert Fiehler in Altenburg in which I had given this account: "Last June 16th I had a wonderful visit with Robert and Lillian Fiehler in Altenburg. I had a great time learning more about my Fiehler family history. Robert drove me to the location north (within several miles) of Frohna where the original Gottlob Fiehler farmstead had stood. Although nothing remains of that original farmstead, a red brick house still stands nearby where one of his sons lived and raised his family." This is Delores' response: "The red brick house you saw in Perry County was where Benjamin Fiehler (your Pauline Hemmann'sbrother) raised his big family there - of which my Grandpa Henry was the oldest of the ten children. Mom visited her Grandma there many times when she was little."

Note: 13 Feb 2003 E-mail from Sally Long: As a young man, Paul Julius Fuehler lived with this family(Benjamin Fiehler). Family tradition indicates that Paul and his brother Alfred came from Germany to Perry County about 1883. Alfred Fuehler lived with August and Pauline nee Fiehler Hemmann who raised him.
