Source: Fiehler Genealogy, Rudolph Fiehler, July, 1979: Henry Fiehler received his training at the seminary then located in Addison, Illinois (later moved to River Forest, Illinois). He conducted school at Edgerton, Wisconsin, Columbus, Wisconsin, and Milwaukee before coming to Altenburg, where he was active for forty-five years, from 1906 to 1951. Source: 13 June 2001 phone call to Lillian Fiehler in Altenburg: "Henry Fiehler was a teacher in Altenburg for 30 years." Source: "Concordia Historical Institute Quarterly" Winter 2007, Vol. 80, No. 4: In an article about Paul Buszin, Lutheran School Teacher and NID School Superintendent, at the time of his (Buszin's) entering the Lutheran teachers seminary at Addison, DuPage County, Illinois in September, 1887, the following reference to fellow student Henry Fiehler is made on page 208: "One of the first fellow students Paul dared to approach was Henry (Frank) Fiehler, who would later be Paul's fellow teacher in Milwaukee and, later still, a teacher in Altenburg, Missouri." Again on page 214 of the same article, this reference: "Paul renewed his friendship once more with Henry Fiehler, the classmate of Addison days, who had also taken a teaching call at St. Peter's (Milwaukee). A program from a church concert on June 1904 at St. Peter's, still in the Buszin family's possession, shows Paul Buszin serving as organist and director of the mixed and women's choirs and H. Fiehler servingas assistant organist and director of the men's choir." And finally on page 215, this reference: "His (Paul Buszin's) colleague, Henry Fiehler, was also ready to leave, and both of them left St. Peter's (Milwaukee) that summer(1906), with Fiehlergoing to Altenburg, Missouri." |
