He is called George Bergmann Sr in Lynn Degenhardt's German Family Tree, though there is no evidence that he ever had a son named Georg(e). Perhaps this was an honorary title to differentiate him from the slightly younger "Creek George" and "Siding George", who were sons of Johann Bergmann of Schirradorf near Wonsees, or perhaps this was because he was the earliest known Bavarian Lutheran arrival to the group that eventually formed Peace Lutheran Church. |
